| Hooks: |
Body shank, #2.0 with 1 ½” to 1 ¾” long shank Mustad or similar, (cut at bend after building fly).

| Thread: |
6.0 Black.
|
| Eyes: |
Medium dumbbell with paste on eyes.
|
| Stinger: |
18” 12# Maxima Ultra, doubled, hitched, furled by spinning with forceps & knotted or 20-30 lb. Firewire.

| Tail: |
Black Rhea with 4 strands holographic blue flashabou on top.
|
| Body: |
Peacock crystal chenille (small).
|
| Flanks: |
2 olive and 1 brown grizzly Schlapen feathers per side (Brown on outside).

| Collar: |
Underwing, Olive Rhea on top & around sides, Black Rhea over Olive on top.
Overwing, Black deer hair flared over sides & top, Grey deer hair flared across bottom.

Tying Steps
- Tie in eyes on top of shank of body hook.
- Tie in stinger (about same length as from eyes to hook point). Tie in on top of hook, wrap up to eye, clip @ knot & loop each strand over eye and along opposite sides of hook, tie in by wrapping thread back to tie in point.
- Tie in 3 Schlapen feathers on each side of hook flaring out with brown on outside.
- Tie in a small bunch of Rhea feathers on top of hook between Shalapen feathers for a tail.
- Tie in 4 strands flashabou on top of tail by folding 2 strands over thread and pulling back.
- Tie in crystal chenille @ tail wrap butt to eyes and wind body up to eyes.
- Tie in three bunches of olive Rhea behind eyes on top of hook with loose wraps, work around hook shaft and then clinch tight when evenly distributed.
- Tie in small bunch Black Rhea on top of Olive and evenly distribute before clinching.
- Trim Rhea butts, wrap base of thread, tie in clump of grey deer hair on bottom & let flare.
- Tie in 2 bunches of black deer hair on top of hook behind eyes & let each flare.
- Work thread through deer hair, over eyes & half hitch. Whip finish in front of eyes.
- Trim deer hair butts flat on bottom and tapered down forward on top.
- Clip off hook @ top of bend & file to smooth raw edge.
